In June 2008, a direct tram service from Benidorm to Alicante began, with great success among locals and holidaymakers. Opposite the Poniente Playa is the Mar Blau Hotel, which is considered to be one of the best 2 star hotels in the city. This is a mid-range hotel with a Spanish flavour, a minute from the beach and a few minutes from the old town shops. They also provide car rental.

The Rincon de Loix area is newer and a bit quieter than Levante, and seems to be favoured by many of the British. The Rialto Hotel is a 3 star, newly refurbished hotel that is near the waterparks and just minutes from the Levante beach. It is a very family-friendly hotel.
